Oppo's Reno series has been a formidable system in the mid-price smartphone segment. While the Reno5 and 6 shared almost similar designs with cosmetic changes, the Reno7 Pro appears different.
The device offers a clean design with a matte finished back surface and sturdy aluminium frame. It is available in Startrails Blue and Starlight Black colours, which offer a nice gradient and speckled design respectively. Both look refreshingly premium. The camera module is perched on a metal platform with what Oppo calls a 3D Orbit Breathing Light around it. The cameras are protected by a wear-resistant coated ceramic layer while the screen is guarded by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 cover glass. The phone has a punch hole front camera and an in-display fingerprint sensor. There is no 3.5 mm headphone jack. The Reno7 Pro offers a nice grip and feels quite light at 180 grams.
The Reno7 Pro is centred around its camera capabilities. The phone is powered by the highly capable MediaTek Dimensity 1200-MAX. This 6nm octa-core processor offers up to 3.0 GHz clock frequency and is designed for superior battery life, featuring four performance cores and four power efficient cores. It includes an ARM G77 MC9 GPU. The Reno 7 Pro features 12GB LPDDR4 RAM and 256GB of internal memory. Dynamic RAM expansion is available 7GB. The device runs on ColorOS 12 based on Android 11, and we have no indications of an Android 12 update schedule yet.
