Companies wait for a month or two before launching a product in the same category but not Xiaomi. First, they launched the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 and a couple of weeks later, the Redmi Earbuds S. Although competing in the same category, after using both products, they are certainly meant for a distinct set of customers. The Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 is targeted at someone who wants hi-res audio quality with LHDC whereas the Redmi Earbuds S targets a first-time TWS user, mainly because of its price.
The Redmi Earbuds S has been designed keeping the low price in mind. The simple matte black case is small and light with a small LED on the front and a micro-USB port at the back. Interestingly, Xiaomi does not bundle any micro USB cable along with the device. When it comes to the actual buds, they are incredibly tiny and lightweight at just 4.1g each. If you thought a regular TWS earbud is easy to lose, the Redmi Earbuds S poses double the risk. That said, the small form factor and silicone ear tips make for a good fit. The buds come with medium ear tip but you can adjust the fit by replacing it with the bundled small and large ones. Also, the buds are IPX4 rated, making it resistant to sweat and splash.
