[ Company Profile ] Ewiks Caravan Movers Turns 10.
Congratulations to Ewiks on their 10th birthday! This clever local manufacturer of caravan movers has been making life easier for caravanners for over a decade.
The man behind the useful device is mechanical engineer Erik Warburg, who today operates the company with his son, Kyle Warburg.
Ewiks movers are proudly South African, and are one of the most affordable and recognizable units on the market. If you’ve encountered an Ewiks before, you’ll instantly recognize the bright yellow remote and the sound that it makes as it easily moves your caravan into position.
Erik developed the Ewiks mover a decade ago, after a friend challenged him to develop something to move his Exclusive. After a few prototypes, the movers were ready and the Exclusive was able to be maneuvered easily.
He fitted new movers to his own caravan and those of several friends, all members of his caravan club, and the news soon spread. As a testimony of Erik’s skill and the quality of his product, all three of these original movers are still in use today!
Caravan & Outdoor Life caught up with Erik at the recent Caravan Camp & Destination Show, where he laughingly told us that even though he knows the sound of the mover might bother some people, he sees it as free marketing.
“When an Ewiks is in use in a caravan park, those who hear it know it’s an Ewiks,” he says.
