Thailand welcomed 1.06 million Indian travellers in 2015. For 2016, the target is 1.1 million and Thailand has already recorded over 700,000 Indian arrivals by August,” says Soraya Homchuen, Director, Tourism Authority of Thailand - Mumbai office.

The country has been hosting Indian travellers for holidays and business and is now expanding the array of luxury options offered.

Tie the nuptial knot in Thailand

Weddings have always been a grand affair in India. From the most fancy of apparels to an exotic- a-la-carte and mega venues, an Indian wedding truly is big and fat. And they keep getting bigger and better with couture for apparels and la-la-lands for wedding venues being the newest trends.

With numerous world-class products and services, Thailand has emerged as the number one wedding destination in Asia. With the government taking more initiatives to pump up the wedding experiences, more and more couples are flying here to celebrate their D-day.

As more and more Indians look for exotic destinations to get married in, the international market offers a host of avenues. However, as heading far off west for a wedding may prove to be exuberantly expensive, destinations closer home are an ideal option. In Asia, Thailand is the go-to-place for those dreaming of a beach wedding. Thailand as a wedding destination caters to all kinds of thematic celebrations. The Tourism Authority of Thailand has been “projecting a significant growth in international weddings and honeymoons being celebrated in Thailand.”

“Thailand will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the best of preparations in order to become a global wedding hub for couples of every nationality,” Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports was quoted saying.

Debuting at COP29, can tourism lead march towards curbing carbon emissions?

Tourism will make its debut in global climate change negotiations in the next round of discussions, COP29, that opens in Baku later this month. So far, the discussions have spectacularly failed to produce any notable outcome, besides platitudes and numerous missed commitments.
