Three decades of a design classic The Rail Express stand at Warley will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Railfreight sub-sector livery.
THIS October marks 30 years since the Railfreight triple grey sub-sector liveries were publicly unveiled at the Ripple Lane open day, this heralding the full launch of the Roundel-designed scheme. The livery has since gone on to be regarded as one of the finest to grace the UK network and remains immensely popular today.
Naturally, such an important anniversary cannot go unmarked here at Rail Express Modeller, so the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition on November 25/26 will see a suitable display on stand A45A, next to the magazine's main stand (A44).
In much the same vein as previous HST and Network SouthEast celebrations, the display will include an array of 4mm scale train formations as well as other models and a collection of literature. Mark Lambert will also be demonstrating modelling ‘OO’ gauge motive power and freight stock from the Railfreight era.

LNER puts remaining ‘91s' into warm store

Travellers-Fare with Hornby's Mk.1 Restaurant-Buffet car
Hornby expands its range of retooled ‘OO’ gauge Mk.1 coaches with a brand new tooling for the Diagram 24 Restaurant-Buffet car (RB) and the Diagram 33 refurbished version (RBR). It models the vehicles in both original form, finished in BR maroon and Southern Region green, together with the RBR refurbished coaches. They remained in frontline service well into the 1990s, including Cross-Country workings.

1990s ‘N' gauge Class 950
Work on the ‘N’ gauge Class 950 Track Recording Unit project, a conversion based on a standard Graham Farish Class 150/1 model, is concluded by finishing the model in 1990s condition.
