COSMO deputy editor Noxolo Mafu gets thetea on this mega-babes year and an insideguide to the seasons hottest hang-outs, highlights and thecoolest summer-ready wardrobe by Guess.READY, SET,SUMMER!
What’s your favourite thing about summer?
I love going out with friends and doing outdoor activities. There’s nothing quite like sundowners in my backyard with the people I love, or a Sunday afternoon at a market. I also love getting out my summer wardrobe: I’m a less-is-more kinda girl, so give me short-shorts and a tank top and I’m happy!
You grew up in Soweto. What’s your best memory of summer as a child?
Days out with my family at a water park, or a picnic. I’ll cherish those moments forever. Outings have a way of bringing a family – or friends, or lovers – closer. I don’t know what it is, but there’s something extra-special about sharing experiences with the people you love.
Ideal summer day of fun?
I’d have to be in a coastal city – Durban over Cape Town, purely for the weather! The day would start with a morning at a spa, including a full-body massage and a facial. Then I’d have lunch at a beachfront seafood restaurant, followed by a sexy, chic yacht party – picture ethereal cover-ups, house music and cocktails flowing everywhere.
You’re a globetrotter. What’s your favourite international destination?
I’ve travelled all over the world. Some destinations have surprised me (in a good way); others were not at all what I expected. I enjoyed my summer getaway in Phuket, Thailand – everyone needs to go there once in their life. Rio de Janeiro was also amazing – lots of fun under the sun.
Brazil is a country full of flavour, with a laid-back, ‘loving life’ attitude. I’ll be doing Spring Break in Cancún next year, and I’m really looking forward to it. Follow my Instagram for updates!
