Is your client’s mane the victim of too many treatments? Here’s how you can control the damage.
Every client wants soft and healthy tresses. But that is easier said than done. Our mane suffers a lot on a daily basis. It is exposed to pollution and the harsh rays of the sun, and there is daily wear and tear. Stress, an unhealthy diet and a hectic lifestyle also takes a toll on it. Additionally, clients subject their mane to innumerable chemical and heating treatments. While some of these treatments may be unavoidable, a problem arises when they subject their hair to too many treatments without enough of a gap between them or opt for treatments that are unsuitable to their hair type.
The problem compounds when stylists do not follow techniques as per the rulebook or do not advise their clients correctly on what treatments suit their hair type. Fortunately, there are ways and means to reverse this damage. Here’s how.
WHAT IS TREATED HAIR?
Treated hair can be defined as hair that has been exposed to various chemical treatments such as colouring, highlighting, streaking etc, or to texture services such as heat-styling, smoothing, straightening or perming. “Treating hair primarily involves the use of chemicals. The use of heat is usually a secondary step when it comes to treating hair,” says Kulsum Parvez, beauty expert and founder of Kulsum Parvez Makeup Studio.
The problem, however, does not lie in the actual treatment of hair. It arises when the tresses are over-treated. This typically happens when the client is not advised by the stylist that her hair is unhealthy to start with, and that opting for such treatments will be counterproductive.
