Award-winning actor has become South Africa’s sweetheart
IF you were to write a list of the best actors in South Africa, you would not go far on that list without mentioning Warren Masemola (34), who is becoming an enduring and iconic figure in the South African TV industry. He has a glittering CV, having appeared in a string of shows including Ses’Top La, Saints and Sinners, Scandal!, Intersexions, iNumber Number and Ayeye. It came as no suprise when his role on Ses’Top La earned him a South African Film and Television Award (Safta) for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Comedy.
GETTING INTO THE ARTS
Life has not always been easy for Warren, who grew up in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.
He was raised by both his parents, but lost his father when he was in Grade 7. This left him devastated, but he found comfort in knowing that he still had his mother.
