But for the first time, Demi Moore has revealed the true cost of fame and fortune in her new book, Inside Out, as well as personal tragedies that led to addictions which almost tore her family apart.
In an interview with the New York Times to promote the autobiography, the star says she’s both “eager and anxious” about sharing intimate details of her life with the world, including the shock admission she was sexually abused at the age of 15, and that she lost a child with then-husband Ashton Kutcher when she was six months along.
Now in a “great place” after writing the memoir and completing a rehab programme for trauma, co-dependency and substance abuse – she’s overcome addictions to Vicodin and alcohol – Demi says the last piece of the puzzle in her road to recovery is sharing what’s happened in her life.
And she has no qualms about discussing her past relationships with Ashton (41) and Bruce Willis (64), with whom she shares daughters Rumer (31), Scout (28) and Tallulah (25).
“There’s nothing I have to protect,” she says. “I’m definitely not interested in blaming anyone. It’s a waste of energy.
"It's exciting, yet I feel vulnerable."
After a fraught childhood, Demi’s Hollywood story began almost instantly when she moved out of her parents’ home at 16.
