A Blast Of Criticism Leaves The Star Reeling.
When it comes to discussing how she balances being a movie star and a mother of three, Julia Roberts is refreshingly honest.
While other celebrities lament having to juggle both roles, the Pretty Woman star has no complaints.
“I work in a very flexible job,” she points out, adding that she only accepts roles that won’t take her away from home for long periods, and that her kids can come to work with her if necessary.
“I am very grateful. I love being at home. I love cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love doing laundry. And when I feel like I do not want to do laundry any more, lo and behold, a job comes along.”
She adds, “I know my struggles are unique to me – and I have them, certainly – but it is so supremely outweighed by the deliciousness of the choice that I have.”
Having worked as an actress for 18 years before she had twins Hazel and Phinnaeus (14), and Henry (11), she feels she’s earned the luxury of spending most of her time at home with her kids while working only sporadically. It also helps that Julia, who is married to cinematographer Danny Moder, has earned an estimated $250m from her very successful career, so she doesn’t have to make movies for financial reasons.
When she does work, she follows her heart, choosing projects such as her latest movie Ben is Back and her new TV series Homecoming.
