It’s a well-known fact that there is only one Piers Morgan – something the producers over at Good Morning Britain seem to be struggling with since he sensationally quit the show back in March.
The months that followed saw a plethora of potential replacements drafted in, including Richard Madeley, Adil Ray and former No.10 spin doctor Alastair Campbell.
But it’s fair to say that none of them managed to fill the very large shoes Piers, 56, left behind, if the regular flood of social media comments from viewers are anything to go by.
One user wrote, ‘To the people excited about Piers Morgan leaving GMB, be careful what you wish for. He could be replaced by Adil Ray.’ Another fumed, ‘Somebody get Richard Madeley off! Honestly, it’s too painful to watch. Bring Piers back.’ And a third begged the controversial presenter to return, saying, ‘Piers, I would love for you to go back, please. Had to put up with Richard Madeley and worst of all, Alastair Campbell.’
But there may be two people who could save the day – and, the good thing is, you know them very well already…
A formidable double act
Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes regularly presented This Morning for 14 years before being dumped in favour of Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary in a shake-up that angered fans earlier this year.
