Harry and Meghan are planning to return home in what aides describe to me as another sign the royal rift may be easing.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have told friends they are ‘desperate’ to show their new daughter off to the Queen after naming her Lilibet (Her Majesty’s childhood nickname) in her honor.
It remains to be seen ifHarry will fly to London to accompany Prince William as they unveil a memorial statue of their late mother, Diana, at Kensington Palace on 1 July (see my column on p11 for more). If he does, that may not be his last visit this year, with a family return being considered for late autumn.
There has been a question mark, as the rift between the brothers has deepened, over whether Harry might pull out of the unveiling. William was ‘furious’ with Harry for the comments he made during the now infamous Oprah Winfrey interview.
In particular, he was angered by the attacks leveled at his wife Kate, who was accused of making Meghan cry, then remaining silent when the newspapers claimed it was the other way round.
