IF YOU DO ONE THING THIS WEEK… BE ON GUARD
UK Finance has revealed there’s been a sharp rise in impersonation scams this year. Criminals claim to be from trusted organisations and convince victims to make payments or give personal and financial details. For tips on protecting yourself, visit takefive-stopfraud.org.uk.
1 Start planning in advance
The best deals may sell out quickly so if you want to bag them, start prepping before the day. Set up online accounts with retailers you’re likely to use in advance and have a clear idea of what you want to buy. Some sites let you set up a wishlist of items you’re interested in. Having a pre-created list of things you’ve got your eye on means you’ll be able to check quickly if they’vebeen discounted. And remember, many retailers start their Black Friday deals well before the big day so look for details on the store’s website, social media channels or emails.
