Country icon Dolly Parton will never forget the day she turned down the King of Rock’n’Roll.
Dolly had just landed a number one hit on the country music charts in 1974 with I Will Always Love You when she received a call from Elvis Presley’s camp.
“They had called me to say that Elvis was recording [the song] and asked if I wanted to come to the studio,” recalls Dolly, 74, on a recent podcast episode of Living & Learning With Reba McEntire. “Elvis wanted to meet me!”
