The couple are tight-lipped about the birth
As the world waited with bated breath for an announcement heralding the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first baby, drama continued to surround the controversial royal delivery.
With Meghan’s rumoured due date of April 30 passing by with silence from the palace, the parents-to-be have again well and truly ripped up the rule book. Unlike previous royal babies, where the public is kept closely informed, Harry and his American wife made it clear that details about their precious firstborn will be made known in their own time only.
“The lack of clarity has certainly made for a lot of raised eyebrows,” tells our well-placed source. “With previous royal babies, the press is kept closely informed, and there’s a real sense of excitement and celebration among the people. It’s different this time – the sense of anticipation is at fever pitch!”
And behind the scenes, Meghan, 37, has been struggling to stay calm in the lead-up to the birth. Last seen in public on March 19, when visiting New Zealand House to pay her respects to the Christchurch terror victims, she’s said to have spent the past few weeks nesting at home with her Los Angeles-based mum Doria Ragland, 62, by her side.
