The duchess hasn’t given up on love

In the wake of her triumphant return to the royal fold at Princess Eugenie’s lavish wedding, the Duchess of York’s comeback continues apace, with Sarah Ferguson opening up her heart for her first full interview in two decades.

In the surprisingly candid chat, the bubbly redhead does nothing to downplay rumours of a romantic reunion with her ex-husband Prince Andrew, speaking glowingly of her relationship with her former spouse, who she still lives with at Windsor’s Royal Lodge, despite their marriage ending 22 years ago.

“We’re the happiest divorced couple in the world,” gushes Fergie, 59. “We’re divorced to each other, not from each other.”

Asked if she still loves Andrew, 58, she replies, “We both say it. We are completely compatible. The way we are is our fairy tale. Although we’re not a couple, we really believe in each other. We stand up for each other, fight for each other and we sit around the table and have afternoon tea together.”

When questioned about reports she and Andrew will remarry, she responds elusively, “So many people have asked me that, but we’re so happy with the way we are right now.”

However, those close to the duchess insist Fergie and Andrew still haven’t worked out where their relationship stands, and while she’s hopeful of a reunion, she doesn’t want to jinx it.
