After eagerly counting down for many months, Princess Charlotte’s big day finally arrived last week when she joined big brother Prince George at Thomas’s Battersea school – and her beaming smile showed just how thrilled she was!
Holding tightly on to her mum’s hand as she arrived for her first day at the exclusive private primary, the adorable four-year-old looked every inch the big girl in her smart uniform and shiny black shoes.
Flanked by her proud parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and six-year-old George, Charlotte flicked her ponytail and tentatively shook the hand of a waiting teacher.
“She’s very excited,” said William, ushering his little family towards the doors of the school.
And our royal insider reveals that little Lottie, as she’s lovingly known by her family, barely looked back as she farewelled her doting parents and “just couldn’t wait to get started”.
For the duchess, the chance to take her darling middle child to school for the first time was particularly special, given she missed George’s send-off in 2017 due to severe morning sickness when she was pregnant with Prince Louis.
“It broke Kate’s heart to miss George’s first day, so she was delighted to be there for Charlotte,” tells a palace source. “It’s a huge milestone for any parent to see their little one head off to school and she certainly shed a tear or two after saying goodbye.”
