Relationships are tricky businesses. We script the “fairytale” and focus on all the wonderful things that come with being part of a pair. We enter into them with certain expectations and beliefs. Even though relationships can be amazing and fulfilling, they are not always so, picture-perfect.
Misconceptions about what a good relationship is supposed to look like and how you’re supposed to feel when you are in one can cause you to question yours. When you think a relationship should be a certain way, and yours isn’t, frustration sets in. The myths hold you back and you stop believing that your relationship is working. So, before diving too deep and setting your expectations on a fantasy relationship, here are the truths behind 10 common relationship myths:
1 Happy couples don’t fight
Every relationship experiences conflict. Disagreements happen. They’re there for a reason – to improve our understanding with your partner. Fights never ruin relationships, not resolving your fights does. It’s better to have a confrontation than to avoid one. It is true that a certain amount of fights can damage your relationship, but that doesn’t mean your relationship shouldn’t have any.
