Woman's Era|February First 2017

When there is so much hatred and violence spread against the freedom of love in the world, there are people who are working to make love a reality for its inhabitants.

Freedom Of Love

Valentine’s Day is the occasion to celebrate love. A day to profess your feelings for someone you are deeply in love with. It is the day of gifts, cards, chocolates, flowers or whatever it takes to communicate the message to your beloved precisely. But the grass is not greener everywhere, each year we see minority groups in the country aggressively opposing Valentine’s Day celebration, blaming the western influence of festival on youth.

And amid all this, a group named ‘Dastak’ is making all efforts to keep love away from hatred, violence and arrest. The group from Lucknow is actively working to spread awareness about ‘freedom of love’. A novel initiative by the group previous year brought people from all strata of  society to gather on a common platform to voice their opinion on ‘freedom to love’. Titled as ‘Jamhuri hai Ishq Nagariya’ which means the world of love is democratic. The evening was a hit among people so much that the group is organising similar gathering on grand level this year and has pledged to continue it in years to come.
