Wearing eye-catching coutours.
Celebrities, including Michael Caine and Barry Humphries, turned out on 5 March 2016 to help octogenarian media mogulgroom Rupert Murdoch (84) and supermodel-bride Jerry Hall (59) celebrate their wedding at a storied London church. A day after they got hitched in a civil ceremony, the pair were joined by media and entertainment figures including Live Aid guru Bob Geld and Rebekah Brooks, the head of Murdock’s British publishing business.
Hall, wearing a light-blue Vivienne Westwood dress and carrying a bouquet, arrived on the arm of her son James Jagger, one of the four children she had had with Rolling Stone frontman Mick Jagger. She met Jagger in 1976 and were together since 1979. They tied the knot only in 1990 in a Hindu ceremony in Bali. They split in 1999 after Jagger cheated on her. The other three HallJagger children – Elizabeth, Georgia May and Gabriel – were also in attendance. Georgia and Elizabeth served as bridesmaids.
Every bride wants to look stunning on her wedding day. No black. No white. Look feminine. The rules are many when you’re an Indian bride. On her wedding day, the Indian bride looks so luminous that even the prettiest of women look awestruck at her divine beauty. There’s something about the bride’s trousseau that gives her a contemporary touch. So what is it?
Fashion designer Maheka Mirpuri feels it’s the modern colours. She says, “I feel there’s a drastic change in the way brides look at their trousseaus. Today’s bride is shy, yet confident and metropolitan. She wants to experiment with colours, is adventurous and adaptable to change. Today’s generation is well travelled and they like a fusion feel in their dresses, and so I launched my line of bridal wear with a lot of blues, wine and green colours.”
