A COUNCIL has backed the British Horse Society (BHS) Dead Slow campaign as a national scheme is launched.
After input from a local rider, Devon County Council (DCC) has worked with the BHS, Horses & Road Safety Awareness (HRSA), and Vision Zero South West to display roadside posters, encouraging safe passing of riders. The posters advise drivers to reduce their speed to a maximum of 10mph and leave at least two metres’ space, in accordance with Highway Code guidance.
“HRSA began to let riders share their experiences of riding on the road. We have supported many people through the trauma of injury and the loss of their beloved companions,” said HRSA founder Hayley Stokes.
