Hyundai began its Indian innings with the Santro. The small hatch took the country by storm and from then on, the brand has had a slew of hatchbacks in its portfolio which included the ever-so-popular i10, the Grand i10, and then the Grand i10 Nios. Not to forget that the Hyundai i20 had been ruling the roost in the segment above. But with the advent of compact SUVs, the hatchback market started to take a hit. Come to think of it, the Venue outsells most hatchbacks in Hyundai’s portfolio. But then, there are still steady followers of the hatchback in India and hence it was just apt to keep the Grand i10 Nios updated. That’s exactly what has happened.
The Nios gets a redesigned front end and comes with a new set of projector headlamps which are swept back and get along well with the overall sleek dimensions of the hatch. The front bumper has been redesigned as well and the LED DRLs now look even sportier. In profile, one can note the new diamond alloy wheels. At the back though is where the major changes have happened. The tailgate is new and so are the LED tail lights. There is a new strip that connects the tail lamps as well. However, unlike seen in the Venue and the Tucson, the strip on the Nios is not lit but reflective in nature. There is a new shark fin antenna added as well.
