Verstappen Wraps up 2022 with a Win in Abu Dhabi

The 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was easily won by Max Verstappen. Charles Leclerc of Ferrari finished in second place to overtake Sergio Perez for the championship.

VERSTAPPEN HELD OFF Perez into Turn One and switched from medium to hard tyres on lap 20. The Dutchman continued to race on hard tyres all the way to the finish to capture his record-setting 15th victory of the year.

Perez and Leclerc, who were locked for second place in the championship going into this race on points, put on a thrilling duel. Leclerc replied by prolonging his second stint and guaranteeing a one-stop strategy while Perez pitted early for both of his stops. With four circuits left, the Red Bull driver tried to pass the Ferrari for P2 but was unable to do so. As a result, he finished third and dropped to third in the championship, behind Leclerc.
