I must start by saying this is not strictly a comparison. Yes, we have the Royal Enfield Scram 411, Triumph Street Twin, and Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 in very close proximity, but these bikes are worlds apart, so any comparison is tricky.
However, since I’m lucky enough to have motorbikes in my blood, I roped my dad and uncle into taking the three bikes out anyway.
We decided to take all three machines out for a lovely, hot and sunny ride one Sunday.
We went with the view to swapping over at some point to get more than just the owner’s opinion of their bikes. The line up was my Royal Enfield Scram 411, dad’s Triumph Street Twin and uncle John’s Royal Enfield Interceptor.
Bike swaps
We had a route in mind, and we set off at first on our own bikes.
I took the lead and we did a bit of a circle and ended up back at Swaffham twice. We did about 40 miles on our own machines and had a pit stop for coffee and a scone. No sooner had we got off the bikes than a stranger come out of his way to ask about the Scram 411, having seen and sat on one at a show recently. It really isn’t hard to talk people into buying one, they are great looking bikes.
We set off again but this time dad was on the Interceptor, John on the Scram 411 and I was on the Street Twin.
I’ve ridden the Street Twin before and am completely in love with it; I would buy one in a heartbeat. As soon as I sat on the Street Twin I knew I was on something that bit special. Everything just feels more refined and somehow tighter.

Ducati Riding Experience
When I rode the Ducati DesertX to France last year, I did have a bit of an explore on some easy fire roads and gentle green lanes in the wilds of the Médoc area, but was left with the feeling that, had I the experience, the DesertX would have been capable of taking me along some more extreme trails to some even more exciting places. If only there was a way of finding out just how well the Italian adventure bike could cope with some more extreme terrain...

It's ironic that the first all-new MV Agusta model to hit the marketplace right after Italy's No.1 trophy brand was acquired by Austrian giant Pierer Mobility, owner of off-road titans KTM, should be the company's first dual-purpose model of the modern era, powered by MV's all-new 931cc three-cylinder engine that's destined to form the basis of a whole series of new models in coming months and years.
