While Toyota is known for its unparalleled reliability, the brand is also known for its strong hybrid powertrains that offer outstanding efficiency. In India, we've experienced this technology in the Prius, Camry, and, more recently, the Vellfire. But none of these can be categorized as mass-market cars. However, this is set to change with the launch of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which is the first-ever midsize premium SUV in India to use a strong hybrid powertrain.
The Hyryder has a smart and fresh design which helps it stands out as compared to its rivals in the evergrowing mid-size premium segment. The face looks modern and has a strong Toyota character. The sleek LED DRLs are stylish and sit on the upper section of the front end, while the LED projector headlamps are housed in the bumper. Another smart-looking element is the large trapezoidal lower grille. Move to the sides and you'll notice that the length of the vehicle is pronounced and there's a proper rear quarter window too. The wheel arches are squared off and a black cladding runs around them and also across the side skirts to add a sense of ruggedness. 17-inch wheels are standard and higher variants get these striking-looking Y-spoke rims that elevate the styling even more. The rear end looks appealing too - like the sleek DRLs in the front, the rear goes with the same theme by adopting C-shaped taillamps split by a chrome strip.
