Redefining green luxury by championing a movement where luxury and eco-friendliness coexist, Coach has suffused R glamour with sustainability for its A new store in the City Creek Center of Salt Lake City. This flagship space happens to be the first Coach store in the United States to incorporate Polygood plastic, a material crafted from recycled plastics by The Good Plastic Company. Here, we look inside the new store which is setting a new standard in luxury retail design.
THE STARTING POINT
The journey towards sustainable luxury began with Coach approaching The Good Plastic Company to offer a sustainable material for their special edition Rogue 25 handbags' signature handles during the 2021 virtual fashion weeks. Known for its sustainable handles made from recycled materials like white refrigerators and blue spools, the handbag captured the attention of both the fashion industry and eco-conscious consumers. Its acclaim paved the way for Polygood to be integrated more broadly into Coach's operations, starting with the Salt Lake City store designed by Your Studio.
The buttercup yellow designer handbag has a handle with white pattern with blue specks made from recycled white refrigerators and blue spools. A turquoise version used The Good Plastic's Coral Reef pattern to create a handle with orange flecks, and Coach also chose an additional pattern to make a dark handle with white flecks. While fashion weeks went virtual in 2021 during the pandemic, model Kaia Gerber sported the Rogue 25 yellow bag during Coach's Fall 2021 presentation.
