Ms Lakshmi (name changed) was leading a normal life until she began having pain in the right side of her face and jaw in 2020 when she was 35. The pain became so severe and lancinating that she felt like tearing at her own face.
She consulted dentists and underwent multiple tooth extractions, but without any relief. On the brink of despair with unbearable pain, she finally visited Manipal Hospital Whitefield in December 2022. Dr Sharad Rajamani, Consultant – Neurosurgery diagnosed her plight as Trigeminal Neuralgia – a chronic pain condition affecting the nerve supplying sensation to the face.
