You’ve changed into a completely new look for Bloody Daddy..

Now that the people have seen it, it’s much easier to talk about it. Even though he was negative, he had some suave qualities about him and he had something quirky about him as well. I wanted him not to look like Sanjay Kapoor. I wanted the audience also to feel that they were seeing Hamid, someone totally different from me. I’ve never kept grey hair and a grey beard. Also I’m wearing a Hawaiian flamboyant shirt with jewellery and tattoos. Aalim Hakim, who basically designed the look, is a master at all this. Sometimes when you get the look correct so you feel half the battle is won.

It’s said that it’s easier to play a role you relate to. But you are playing a negative role here…

It’s not that when you do a death scene you can’t relate to the scene. Obviously, you’ve never died in your life, but you’ve seen it, you’ve heard about it. You have gone to funerals, you have lived that moment somewhere or the other, you relive that moment when you have to do something. You keep on reading about various gangsters in papers. There’s so much you retain subconsciously. And then if you have a director who is on the same page as you and trusts you to give your best, magic happens.
