Inside the killer Maui inferno
HELLFIRE!

MAUI’S burning hell is the deadliest wildfire in U.S. history, with nearly 100 people perishing as the inferno swept the Hawaiian island with little warning, forcing residents to rush into the swirling surf, which was already littered with corpses!

Officials say the fire — triggered by dry weather and pushed by 80 mph winds from offshore Hurricane Dora — consumed the quaint town of Lahaina, with buildings dating back to 1798 engulfed by flames so hot that metal melted.

More than 12,000 residents were terrorized as the blaze began in the middle of the night, leaping from one historic building to another. People raced from their homes with no time to save anything but their lives.

“It was like a war zone,” recalls Alan Barrios. “There was explosions left and right.”
