$300M comic Jim running out of dough

Jim Carrey, who turns 63 on Jan. 17, says he's returning to acting for financial reasons, admitting, "I bought a lot of stuff"

THE joke’s on Jim Carrey! Two years after the rubber faced funny-guy proclaimed he was retiring from showbiz he’s heading back to the silver screen — because he needs the dough!

The 62-year-old The Mask star will reprise his dual roles of Dr. Robotnik and Gerald Robotnik in the third installment of the hit Sonic the Hedgehog film series.

“I came back to this universe because, first of all, I get to play a genius, which is a bit of a stretch,” cracks Carrey. “And, you know, it’s just … I bought a lot of stuff — and I need the money, frankly. Yeah.”
