Ruby Bhogal fast became known for her vibrant personality and impressive bakes when she took part in The Great British Bake Off. Who could forget her elated reaction when her chocolate orange “Jackson Pollock” collar cake earned her a famous Paul Hollywood handshake?
But although Paul’s praise thrilled the 2018 finalist, it was Prue Leith’s approval she valued most, calling her “the real toughie”.
Ruby has since built up an impressive online presence, written food columns and a cookbook, presented baking segments on Steph’s Packed Lunch and teamed up with All Things Butter to create Chocolate Butter (yes, it’s a thing).
Now, Ruby, 35, is starting to prep for what she’s dubbed her “big fat Indian wedding” to BBC presenter James Stewart – a celebration that will include dessert showstoppers courtesy of Ruby and her Bake Off friends.
Bubbly and funny when we meet her in real life, Ruby laughs about how she met her hubby-to-be and explains why the Bake Off judges won’t be there on her big day…
Ruby, congratulations on your engagement. How’s the wedding planning going?
