It’s been over a week since Meghan’s explosive interview with US magazine The Cut, where she appeared to make more digs at the royal family. But while the dust may have started to settle on her revelations – such as the fact she is “still healing” from her “experience” with the royals – there is one thing that may have caused much deeper damage, according to one royal expert.
Duncan Larcombe says that while he thinks Meghan’s interview will have ruffled feathers among the royals, it is the timing of the chat – the day before the 25th anniversary of Diana, Princess of Wales’ death – that would have felt the most disrespectful.
“When you talk about the timing of this, put together with the hornet’s nest that she seems to have kicked again, it’s not too cynical to suggest there is a bigger agenda at play here,” Duncan, author of Prince Harry: The Inside Story, tells new.
“It’s hard to interpret what Meghan’s playing at because she has managed to get her image on the front of all of the newspapers on the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.
“It wasn’t a surprise that it was the 25th anniversary, so it is a surprise that Meghan will suddenly come out with this onslaught and completely overshadow the anniversary which has managed to pass through without any official commemoration.”

In the chat, Meghan appeared to take a swipe at her brother-in- law Prince William and his wife Kate for allowing the British media to photograph their children at key events, such as their first day of school.
