It’s September on a warm Spanish evening, surrounded by incredible views of ocean and mountains, and 137 of Amy Hart and Sam Rason’s loved ones are gathered to watch the couple take the next step on what is unquestionably their own perfect journey.
Groom Sam, 36, stands patiently on the grand amphitheatre stage, with the couple’s young son Stanley nearby, clutching his tiny elephant blanket as he waits for his mum to appear at the top of the stairs.
After Amy’s seven bridesmaids arrive accompanied by Sam’s six groomsmen and their close friend Luke, the Master of Ceremonies, the bride suddenly appears at the top of the stairs, arm-in-arm with her dad Ian.
Cue the music – You’re Already There by Alison Jiear – and 32-year-old Amy begins her descent wearing a staggeringly beautiful off-the-shoulder dress by Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad, with a dramatic matching French lace veil floating behind her. But despite quite literally taking everyone’s breath away, she tells us when we chat a few days after the ceremony that finding the dress was no easy feat.
“I used to do pageants and now I get to go on red carpets, so everything I tried on at first felt too pageantey or like it should be on a red carpet,” she grins. “Then the manager of The Wedding Club asked me if I wanted to try it on, and even in the cubicle I wasn’t sure. But when I walked out and saw it in the mirror, and then they put the veil on, I knew straight away it was the dress for me.
“It looked very Spanish, very mob wives, very dramatic and the craftsmanship was just incredible. It was perfect for me.”
The romantic setting for their ceremony is the Casa de la Era, an ancient wheat farm near Marbella with sea and mountain views – and it’s possibly the most wedding-worthy non-church venue we’ve ever seen.
