The Coronation Concert

The big event on the day following the Coronation of King Charles III was of course the much-anticipated Coronation Concert, truly an evening of Rock and Royals!

King Charles and Queen Camilla rested during the day, but the Prince and Princess of Wales made a surprise trip to Windsor to chat to people taking part in the Big Lunch.

The lunchtime crowds cheered as the popular Royals shook hands with people picnicking along The Long Walk which leads to Windsor Castle. Shouts of “hip hip hooray” were heard as the couple sipped a homemade gin cocktail, christened Purple Reign, from Union Flag paper cups while talking to a group of women in foam crowns.

The festive lunches were happening around the country, and offered a moment where, according to the Palace, “neighbours and communities are invited to share food and fun together,” in honour of the weekend’s milestone.

For her appearance the Princess of Wales opted for one of her favourite pairs of trainers, the metallic-trimmed leather Veja “Esplar.” She also wore a light blue linen blazer from Reiss, and Kiki McDonough diamond hoops with pearl drops from Annoushka.

Other Royals out and about included the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, who joined a Coronation Big Lunch in Cranleigh, Surrey, while the Princess Royal and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence were at a community street party in Swindon.

The Duke of York’s daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, attended a lunch in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire, while at Downing Street, the Prime Minister and his wife hosted their own lunch for community figures, Ukrainian families, youth groups - and US First Lady Jill Biden, who represented President Biden at the Coronation ceremony.
