IN the wake of Lisa Marie Presley’s sudden passing on Jan. 12 at age 54 following cardiac arrest at her Calabasas, Calif., home, the family of her late ex-husband, Michael Jackson, released a statement in her honor. “We are saddened by the sudden tragic loss of Michael’s former wife, Lisa Marie Presley,” Jackson’s estate said. “Michael cherished the special bond they enjoyed and was comforted by Lisa Marie’s generous love, concern and care during their times together.”
It was a touching sentiment, but it came as a bit of a surprise to those familiar with the inner workings of Lisa Marie and Michael’s 18-month marriage between 1994 and 1996. The romance between the King of Pop (who died from acute propofol intoxication in 2009 at the age of 50) and the daughter of music legend Elvis Presley was the subject of much speculation at the time. Now an unpublished manuscript that Star has seen is revealing the shocking truth about their relationship — revealing that the stars were locked in a bizarre love triangle with Michael’s second wife, Debbie Rowe. “Lisa Marie was in love with Michael and believed he loved her too,” a source tells Star. “She thought their love was real, but she got caught up in his childlike web of deceit.”
