Frozen Planet II
Season 2, Mondays (from 13 February) BBC Earth (*184) 20:00 (and on Catch Up)
In Frozen Planet, BBC documentarians brought us breathtaking footage from the poles. Now in Frozen Planet II they're headed around the globe to bring us more ice and snow, from glaciers and oceans, to mountains and tundras. "Right on the equator, in Kenya, there is a frozen world with a chameleon that's got an ingenious strategy on how to survive," reveals producer Alex Lanchester, who worked on the Frozen Worlds and Frozen Peaks episodes. "They change colour to make themselves darker so they can absorb heat quicker. And they were giving birth to live young because eggs can't incubate when it's that cold. That story really sums up the big thing we want people to get from this series: almost a fifth of our world is covered in ice and snow at some point, and these are important places with incredible animals living in them." Alex spoke with us about how they captured these worlds of wonder for us.
