Prince Harry is going home. The 39-year-old Duke of Sussex is gearing up for his U.K. return in early May, where he’s set to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Invictus Games at the famed St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. It’s a big deal for Harry: The Invictus Games — a multisport event for wounded servicemen and women — has been his passion project since he created it in 2014.
The trip across the pond isn’t guaranteed smooth sailing. In early February, Harry jumped on a plane to England to see his father, King Charles III, 75, following his cancer diagnosis, but reportedly spent less than an hour with the ailing monarch. While in town, Harry did not see his estranged brother, Prince William, 41, or his wife, Princess Kate, 42, who was recovering from abdominal surgery and would later reveal her own cancer diagnosis.
According to a source, Harry has conflicting feelings about returning home. He may finally reconnect with William, and the brothers can put years of jealousy and bitterness behind them amid Kate and Charles’ devastating health crises. Or, they could drift farther apart as old wounds continue to fester. A second source says any tension on Harry’s part comes from security fears: In early April, he lost an initial attempt to appeal against a high court decision to back a reduction in his level of personal security when visiting the U.K.
