THE HIGHLY REGARDED AND DOWN-TO-EARTH ACTRESS IS AT THE TOP OF HER GAME
I'm more CONFIDENT NOW

Sinclair and Colman walked the red carpet together at the 94th Academy Awards in 2022.

Although she had been working for two decades and was already an acclaimed actress in the UK, Olivia Colman's 'upset win' for her role as Queen Anne in The A Favourite at the 2019 Academy Awards came as a surprise, most of all to her. She appeared gobsmacked when she beat out her idol and widely tipped favourite, Glenn Close.

Four years later, the actress is as humble as ever when it comes to her big win, telling WHO she keeps her Oscar out of sight. "He lives in a cupboard because I'm a little bit embarrassed that if people come around, they'll be like, 'Who does she think she is?"" she says. "So I keep it in the cupboard just for me, and every now and then, if no-one's looking, I go, "Hi!""

She followed her Oscar win with Emmy nominated roles in Fleabag and The Crown. On the big screen, she's been nominated for two more Oscars - Best Supporting Actress for The Father in 2021 and Best Actress for The Lost Daughter in 2022. Her turn in Empire of Light (out in cinemas on March 2) is also garnering Oscar buzz- and it all started with a Zoom call with director Sam Mende: while she stood in her kitchen."That in itself was exciting," says Colman, 49. "He was so nice and so easy to chat that it wouldn't have mattered what the role was, I would have done it."

Colman was adored by fans at the Empire of Light UK premiere at the 66th BFI London Film Festival 2022.
