Les Pounder wants to add another device to the Internet of Things. "Just a 'pico'-sized project from WIZnet," he promises...

W5100S-EVB-Pico

IN BRIEF

A reasonable £10 gets you a Raspberry Pi Pico with a built-in Ethernet jack. It's an easy-to-use board for the maker who wants their Pico-powered projects on the internet, collecting data and controlling devices via a remote connection. The board shares the same form factor as the Raspberry Pi Pico, but is 24mm longer thanks to the Ethernet jack.

Right now, getting hold of a Raspberry Pi is a challenge. The exception is a Raspberry Pi Pico - those boards are cheap to make and in plentiful supply.

The problem with a Pico is that's there is no internet connectivity (ok the Pico W is now out! See LXF292.) but what if we could have a Pico with a connection to the world? WIZnet's snappily named WS5100S-EVB-Pico is a Pico. It shares the same form factor, 264Kb of RAM, a 133MHz Arm Cortex MO+ CPU and 2MB of storage, as well as the same GPIO layout as the official board. The icing on the cake (or the Pi) is the added Ethernet connectivity.
