HEART & SOUL

Neo soul? Modern funk? Nu disco? The feeling you get when you close your eyes and sunshine hits your face? Those are just a few ways to describe the music that the British duo Jungle makes, broadly under the umbrella of electronic music. None of these truly come close to the euphoric, almost cathartic sagas they weave, as I shared with Tom McFarland over Zoom. He’s one half of the outfit that also comprises Josh Lloyd-Watson – they played at Lollapalooza India, in Mumbai, towards the end of last month, with a full ensemble band. The common consensus for fans and listeners alike is that Jungle sounds like freedom.
