On 13 June 1943, Lancaster bomber ED603 was shot down over the Netherlands as it returned home to the UK following an air-raid mission over Germany.
It crashed into Lake IJsselmeer, killing all seven crew members. However, while four bodies were washed ashore, the remains of flight engineer Arthur Smart, officer Charles Sprack and flight sergeant Edward Moore have never been found.
