The tale of the journalists who uncovered the Watergate scandal is world-famous, with Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman playing the pair in the Oscar-nominated 1976 movie All the President's Men.

Now the story of the burglars and Watergate masterminds who carried out US history's most notorious break-in, which led to the downfall of President Richard Nixon in 1974, is revealed in five-part series White House Plumbers.

Set in the months leading up to the notorious 1972 incident at the Democratic National Committee HQ (DNC) at the Watergate complex in Washington DC, this satirical drama shows all the comic mishaps as it follows E. Howard Hunt, played by Cheers legend Woody Harrelson, and G. Gordon Liddy (The Girl on the Train star Justin Theroux) planning the infamous crime. Also look out for Lena Headey and Judy Greer as their supportive wives, Dorothy Hunt and Fran Liddy.

Part of a covert group called The White House Special Investigations Unit, also known as the 'White House Plumbers', the criminal pair Hunt and Liddy planned to break into the DNC to bug the phones of President Nixon's political opponents. Yet their team were caught and their botched burglary ended up bringing down the administration they were trying to protect.
