THE MAKING OF DO THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS?
NEW FRI, 9PM, BBC4 FACTUAL

Moved by a heartbreaking BBC news report, The Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof made music history 40 years ago on Sunday 25 November when he brought together some of the biggest names in pop to record a charity single to raise money for the Ethiopian famine appeal.

Now, a new BBC4 documentary, The Making of Do They Know It's Christmas?, showcases unseen footage of supergroup Band Aid, which featured stars such as Spandau Ballet, George Michael, Sting, Bono and Duran Duran, as they met at a studio in London's Notting Hill to record the track, produced by singer-songwriter Midge Ure, in just one day! Here, in an exclusive interview with TV Times, Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp, 65, shares his memories of working on this special project...
