HAUNTED MANSION

FROM WEDNESDAY 4 OCTOBER, DISNEY+ COMEDY

Brace yourselves for chills and thrills aplenty as the frighteningly fun film Haunted Mansion arrives on Disney+ this week.

Inspired by the classic ride attraction found in Disney theme parks across the world, the comedy-horror caper follows single mum Gabbie (played by Ahsoka star Rosario Dawson) and her young son, Travis (The Underground Railroad’s Chase W. Dillon), who enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.

A remake of 2003’s The Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy and The Bay’s Marsha Thomason (available now on Disney+), the mischievous movie is a mix of CGI and live action and features an all-star cast including Hollywood A-listers Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito and a scene-stealing Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays the mysterious Madame Leota, a ghostly floating head in a crystal ball!

‘It’s a beautiful story about the afterlife,’ says Rosario*, 44. ‘It goes from sweet and cute moments to creepy and magical, then spooky and weird again! It’s a roller-coaster experience.’

WELCOME, FOOLISH MORTALS…

Penned by American screenwriter Katie Dippold (who co-wrote 2016’s Ghostbusters reboot), the spooktacular story begins with widowed New York doctor Gabbie and her nine-year-old lad Travis planning a fresh start by relocating to New Orleans. Moving into a surprisingly affordable mansion, they soon realise why they bagged a bargain – Gracey Manor is haunted!
