
KERMIT and Miss Piggy gate-crashed the stage, the royal family boogied in the stands, everyone wore light-up bracelets and class acts rocked into the night.
The coronation concert, held on the East Lawn of Windsor Castle – the first concert to be held on the grounds – was a chance for the 20 000-strong crowd to party along with the royal family and dignitaries.
But one of the highlights had nothing to do with music. Prince William, taking to the stage, which resembled an abstract Union Jack, delivered a moving speech.
“As my grandmother said when she was crowned, coro nations are a declaration of our hopes for the future,” he said. “I know she’s up there keeping an eye on us and she’d be a proud mother.”
