THEY'RE her locks of love, the crowning glory that helps her live in hair-mony with the world, her pride and joy that's made her a cut above the rest.
And if you think her mane attraction is madness, you can shave your opinions for later. Tami Manis is the official mullet queen of the world and she's revelling in the buzz her flourishing follicles is creating.
The 58-year-old nurse from Knoxville, Tennessee, was recently announced the owner of the planet's longest mullet by the people at Guinness World Records and the dimensions of her 'do are enough to make Rapunzel green with envy.
Tami has been growing her "tail", as she calls it, for 33 years and it's now a staggering 172,72cm long - which, for perspective, is longer than Bok wing Cheslin Kolbe is tall.
She's delighted with her record, Tami tells YOU when we catch up with her via video call from her home in the US although she has also had some negative comments on social media.
"One lady said of all the things going on in the world, we're talking about hair. And I said, 'You're right, it is terrible. But if this gives somebody something to smile about, laugh at, make fun of and distract them for a few minutes, so be it".
Tami's mission to grow her mullet began in 1986 after she saw a music video for the song Voices Carry by the band 'Til Tuesday.
"The girl had a rat tail and I really wanted one of those," she says. "I was blessed by the fact that my hair grows well and now it's the longest mullet in the world. I'm very happy with it."
MULLETS have quite a history – it’s a centuries-old hairdo that in the past helped people keep their necks warm and dry, author Alan Henderson says in his book, Mullet Madness.
