Be it the nursery for Karan Johar’s twins and his penthouse, Alia Bhatt’s quirky vanity van and her home, or Ranbir Kapoor’s bachelor pad, we’ve all seen the magic Gauri Khan has created with these aesthetically pleasing, personalised spaces. Her journey with design, however, goes back a long way, she’s always had an eye for interior details, as she shares in her book, My Life in Design, published by Penguin Random House. It was in 2017 that she launched Gauri Khan Designs, and since then, she has been the go-to for all A-list concerns, from offices to personal spaces. All set to put her journey into a beautiful coffee table book that also shares unseen pictures of her home, Mannat, Gauri Khan is here to tell you about the hard work it takes to live your dreams. Excerpts from the interview:
Grazia: When did you first realise that you could turn your interest in design into a career?
Gauri Khan: I was always inclined towards the art of design for as far back as I can remember. I knew I wanted to step into it professionally, but didn’t quite know where to start. It was only when I designed my own house along with a team of professional architects and designers that I realised that I was ready to explore this as a career.
G: What was the first space you ever designed, and what did you learn from it?
