What's making everyone wear acne patches, from transparent ones to colourful with bold designs, in public spaces?

A 2024 study by Statista showed that the second-most-reviewed product on Amazon, one of the world's largest online retailers, was the Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch Original Pimple Patch, out of their top ten best-selling beauty and personal care items. On the other hand, Kiko Kostadinov, joined hands with Star Face, one of the leading brands in creating acne patches with funky designs, and sent their models down the runway with silver star-shaped pimple patches for Paris Fashion Week FW24. It would be wrong to state that this took us aback. In fact, wearing these stickers outside our homes is now hardly a thing of surprise.

Not only are the likes of Justin Bieber, Hailey Bieber, and Willow Smith spotted with acne stickers on their faces, but these patches are also seen on people in our workplaces, nearby coffee shops, grocery stores and even FYPs. Millie Bobby Brown made headlines when she appeared on 'The Drew.

This raises a basic and obvious question: When did we start publicly drawing more attention to a skin concern that previously stayed hidden beneath layers of concealer and foundation? What is it about these pimple patches that has made us fall in love with them?
