The crews and jets are from Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D., but launched from Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, due to an ongoing investigation closing the runway at Ellsworth after a B-1 crashed there on 4 January. According to the Pentagon, taking off from Dyess, the B-1s flew nonstop to the Middle East, where, along with fighter aircraft deployed to US Central Command, they dropped more than 125 precision-guided munitions on 85 targets at seven facilities. The strikes were in response to the 28 January drone attack on Tower 22, a U.S. outpost in northeast Jordan near the border with Syria. Three US Army reservists were killed and at least 47 other troops injured. The group of Iranian-backed militias known as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack.

Maputo airshow 2024 What a treat!
On Sunday 16 June Christine and I returned from attending the Maputo airshow and what a fantastic experience this was not only for estimated 15 000 spectators, but also the members of the media present. As always Brian Emmenis and his team were on top form with a great selection of music. The grand finale with the Puma Energy Flying Lions T6 Harvards was simply beautiful and I saw several spectators with tears in their eyes as they expressed their happiness for the airshow.
