These pretty tropical plants belong to the ginger family and are now available as indoor plants with dark green leaves and exotic flower bracts in shades of light pink, dark pink, lilac and white. These plants are often referred to as common turmeric, as 'Curcuma' is derived from the Sanskrit word kunkuma, which means turmeric.
